Rioting/Looting: Is it over?

A 68 year old man has died from wounds after Monday nights rioting, the poor man was jumped and beaten as he attempted to put out a fire during the Monday night trouble in London.

More than 1,500 people have been arrested in connection with disorder that wreaked havoc in English cities including London, Birmingham, Manchester and Nottingham...over 450 of which have been processed.

It has been estimated by the Association of British Insurers that damages caused in these recent riots could cost “well over £100m”.

All the photos, CCTV, home videos and media provided by onlookers has proven to be a great shout. Police have been able to identify many of the rioters and looters and have spent a great deal of today conducting planned raids on suspect's houses, proving to be an all round success. Many stolen items have been retrieved and offenders arrested.

Police really are doing their best now to ensure these criminals are not getting away with it.

West Midland Police's Superintendent Mark Payne told suspects: "Don't sleep easy, we are coming for you."

Assistant Chief Constable at Greater Manchester Police, Garry Shewan, has said "We know who you are and we are coming to get you".

Many things have been blamed for these riots, I will only list them, going into too much detail will just cause frustration and annoyance:

Welfare dependence
Social exclusion
Lack of fathers
Spending cuts
Weak policing
Racism
Gangsta rap and culture
Consumerism
Opportunism
Technology and social networking

16,000 Police are still patrolling London and will be there throughout this coming weekend, let's just hope we have seen the worst of this and hope things can finally come to an end so we can rebuild and sort our country out.
