Aspiring Vet: A friend of mine.

Hey folks,

Wow it's been long since I last hit up this place, I remember the days when I would update you daily on my day to day events, sadly I don't find myself with time to write these days, which is a shame.

Hopefully I will get up to some crazy shit in the near future that I can tell tales of.

Anyhow back to the topic in hand...

My friend Lucy is an aspiring vet currently studying at Liverpool university. Vet school can be expensive though so she is in need of funds to help with studies.

If y'all could check out her blog to get to know a bit about her or the website to help raise funds have a gander here

The Olympic Dream is Alive.

I know I know, I really have been leaving it too long to write on this thing, but with a new job and spending a lot of time away from my PC now I am back home for summer it's tricky for me to get involved on the bloggerverse.

I really felt the need to bring some excellent news to you guys (whoever is still reading, yeah you!) you see my brother Charles Cousins was officially selected today to represent Great Britain in the coming Olympic Games, and I could not be more proud of him.

"Charles Cousins is one of five rowers with Cambridge connections to be called up to the Great Britain Olympic squad.

Cousins, who writes a blog for the News website, will compete in the quadruple sculls, alongside Stephen Rowbotham, Tom Solesbury and Matthew Wells"- Cambridge Evening News

We kinda knew deep down that him and the lads would make it, they have been putting a ton of effort in lately and really deserve the shot at an Olympic Gold Medal.

I remember when he first started out and we went to watch him row in an indoor arena in Birmingham, the place was packed with youngsters starting out and it was an exciting experience, the race started, we saw his little boat icon on the leaderboard racing across the screen, suddenly he jumps off the machine and throws up in a nearby bucket/bin, we are all thinking "Oh god what's happened" turns out he had finished the race but got a little sea sick on the way,

Ever since then he has been such a great inspiration, not only to me but to many others in the rowing scene and Team GB as a whole.

He's visited schools, been the local celeb for local events and is always up for sharing his enthusiasm for the sport to the youngsters who are taking it up.

In 2008 Charles narrowly missed a chance at the competing in Olympics however I can only see this as a good thing, it really has given him and the lads time to work their butts off to get the strokes and state of mind down to a tee; that in hand with the determination to make it this time around.

The hours put in, all the training all the sweat, it really has paid off and they're on their way to *fingers crossed* an Olympic medal.

As a brother there is nothing that pleases me more, my sister has recently gotten engaged, my brother is in the Olympics....Bring on the Summer!

Dydd Santes Dwynwen

...or Saint Dwynwen's Day for anyone who isn't welsh.

St Dwynwen's Day is celebrated in Wales on the 25th of January, which is today!

St Dwynwen is the Welsh patron saint of lovers (ooh la la) so I guess you could say she is the Welsh equivalent of St Valentine.

She lived in the 5th century and was pretty damn cute (apparantly). She was one of Brychan Brycheiniog's 24 daughters. ( he was the king of Brycheiniog, South Wales, at the time)

Wee hotty see!

Dwynwen fell in love with a prince called Maelon Dafodrill, but unfortunately her father had already arranged that she should marry someone else.

This is where the story gets pretty crazy, believe if you will.

Dwynwen was so upset that she could not marry Maelon that she begged God to make her forget him. After falling asleep, Dwynwen was visited by an angel, who appeared carrying a sweet potion designed to erase all memory of Maelon and turn him into a block of ice.

God then gave three wishes to Dwynwen. Her first wish was that Maelon be thawed; her second that God meet the hopes and dreams of true lovers; and third, that she should never marry. All three were fulfilled, and as a mark of her thanks, Dwynwen devoted herself to God's service for the rest of her life.

She founded a convent on Llanddwyn, off the west coast of Anglesey, where a well named after her became a place of pilgrimage after her death in 465AD.

Visitors to the well believed that the sacred fish or eels that lived in the well could foretell whether or not their relationship would be happy and whether love and happiness would be theirs. Remains of Dwynwen's church can still be seen today.

So yeah..there it is..why wait until Valentines Day when you can say a big "dwi'n dy garu di" (I love you) to that someone special 3 weeks sooner ;)

Appox - What a guy!

Having received my student loan and grant and not wanting to end up blowing it all on hookers or alcohol I decided to invest in a new PC cause my laptop is shit and I've been hanging with my buddy Appox and playing a ton of steam games lately and gettting back into the PC scene, the ol' boy is even helping me choose the best parts.

So I've got the PC parts sorted, I'll show you specifics later when I've built it.

I already have a few decent games on steam, a few humblebundles and the likes but was definitely looking to invest in the valve pack and various other games on steam,

Not only did Appox help me choose my PC parts he asked around his friends for any coupons they were not using from the Christmas gift period; he then traded me 41 items!

Check my inventory :

I must give a shout-out to Appox for all his help! You should all check this guy out! He has some awesome videos! Check his youtube channel HERE!

But for good measure I have added a few of them below! Enjoy

A Hot-Chocolate Kind of Day.

Yesterday I spent the day with my friend Ruby, we had some chocolate and just stocked up on milk, even bought some whipped cream so hot chocolate was definitely on the cards.

We started off with just a normal hot chocolate (cadburys powder) with hot milk and whipped cream, twas epic, we also decided to crumble some choc chip cookies over the top too which was fecking tasty!

Later on in the evening we found a couple of party size mars bars, and a new venture was born.

For the next hot drink I put the milk in the saucepan and began to finely chop the marsbars, which proved difficult as they were in the fridge previous; I would suggest leaving them out of the fridge if you plan to do this.

Once the milk had warmed up a bit I dropped all the chopped up mars into the pan, and mixed it until it all melted in, Just before the milk was about to boil I pulled it off the hob and put a teaspoon of hot-chocolate powder in two mugs and then poured the milky-mars goodness, gave it a little stir, swirled some whipped cream on the top then sprinkled some crumbles chop chip cookie over the top.

Thinking back I really should of taken pictures but at the time it didn't seem like something I would be writing about.

Come to think of it I still have some "Terry's Chocolate Orange with Honeycomb" and some "White Toblerone" both of which I feel would taste great melted in a mug, will probably try one of these later as I feel it could be something of epic proportions.

God Speed.

This post brought to you by My Travel Checklist. All opinions are 100% mine.

I've just downloaded this cool widget 'My Travel Checklist' to give it a test run, it's simplicity and easy navigation require the smallest of effort to use, it's great!

This app does what is says on the tin, it allows you to create checklists of various sizes to use when you are packing for a holiday or trip, you can build a list specific to your traveling preferences, planned activities, gender, location & potential weather of where you are headed.
